This election was affected by the events following the 1929 elections. In that election the Indian members had put forward a motion asking for common roll. When this motion was rejected, the three Indian members walked out. They did not return for three consecutive sittings and lost their seats. When nominations were called for by-elections to fill these seats, nobody nominated. The seats remained vacant until the next election.
Between the elections, the leader of the Indians, Vishnu Deo, was convicted of an unrelated offence and thus lost the right to contest the 1932 election. In this election the group decided to send two members to the Council with the same agenda as after the 1929 elections. That is one was to move, and the other to second a motion for common roll and when this was defeated, to resign.
In 1933 the motion was moved by K. B. Singh and seconded by Muniswamy Mudaliar. As expected, the motion was defeated. K. B. Singh resigned, but Mudliar refused to resign. A by-election was held to replace K. B. Singh. He nominated again and won. This time he stayed in the Council until the end of the term.
